Rp 29 Billion Prepared for 20 Sidewalks Improvement

West Jakarta Sub-dept. of Public Works will repair 20 sidewalks this year. Rp 29 billion from city budget is already prepared.

We are optimistic realizing better sidewalk for pedestrian

West Jakarta Head of Sub-dept. of Public Works for Road, Sisca Hermawati, expressed that West Jakarta is still far away from feasible city for pedestrian. It is caused by street vendors who occupied sidewalks or damaged sidewalks due to crossed by motorcycle.

Sidewalks to be repaired are along Jalan Kemanggisan Utama Raya, Dr Susilo, Palmerah, Nurdin, Fajar Baru, Kembangan Lama, Peta Utara, H kelik, Kamboja, kedoya Raya, Tanjung Duren Barat, Lontar, Anggrek Garuda, Neli Murni, Tanjung Duren Baray VI, Dr Susilo III RW 03 and Dr Semeru.

"We are optimistic realizing better sidewalk for pedestrian," Hermawati said, Saturday (6/14).

According to her, besides of improving sidewalk with paving block as wide as 79,652 meter square, she will install two or three iron pole to block motorcycle and street vendors occupying sidewalk.

"The project is being examined by Service Procurement Unit. So we don't know when it will be started," she added.

Based on beritajakarta.com observation, motorcycles are still crossing sidewalk at Citraland police post towards Grogol traffic light and in front of West Jakarta Metro Police office. While damaged sidewalk seen in Kapuk Raya, Outer Ring Road and Rawa Buaya.
